As an program participant, you will connect with mentors, participate in workshops, and gain experience from team projects in our 9-month in-person NYC program. Mentees meet weekly during the program and our 2026-2027 program begins in October.

The application deadline has been extended to July 1, 2026. All eligible applicants will be contacted for an interview, and final decisions will be announced by August.

Selection criteria

• Students attending public colleges in New York (and recent graduates)

• 18 years of age and older

• Identifies as a person of color

• Interested in pursuing a career in tech or using tech to solve complex problems

• Demonstrates drive, determination and manages responsibilities well

From the program, you will:

• Develop employable skills from hands-on professional development workshops and projects

• Understand your strengths and weaknesses better

• Gain access to mentors who are industry professionals

• Gain confidence in developing your professional network

• Improve your resume, LinkedIn profile, and build a portfolio to prepare for job applications

• Receive coaching on job interviews and throughout their application process

• Connect with others in a supportive and inclusive community

Here are some expectations to make the Project Alpaca experience meaningful:

• Be present. We expect close to full attendance.

• Be willing to learn from mentors.

• Be active in social events and portfolio-building projects.
